The Dodge Ram 1500 is the full-size half-ton pickup.
Ram 1500s are available in three cab styles: regular, Quad Cab (crew cab) and Mega (really big crew cab).
Each body style is offered in ST, SLT or Laramie trim.
The Dodge Ram's 1500 engine lineup includes:
- 215 horsepower and 235 pound-feet of torque 3.7-liter V6;
- 235 hp and 295 lb-ft of torque 4.7L V8;
- 345 hp and 375 lb-ft of torque 5.7L Hemi V8.
Towing capacity is up to 9,300 pounds and a payload up to 2,090 pounds.
The Ram falls short of competing trucks, with a jittery ride, cumbersome handling, and a tight rear seat. Braking performance is only adequate, with long stops. The view is blocked by the towering hood. The cargo bed in the crew-cab version is longer than in competing models. The suspension can be bouncy at times, but when loaded, the Ram's ride is downright comfortable. The engines are strong but noisy and thirsty, particularly the 11-mpg Hemi V8.
